A Faith StoryRabbi Elliot Kukla
None of us are fully definable...each of us is a uniquely created being that gender brings to the surface.”

Elliot Kukla is a rabbi at The Bay Area Jewish Healing Center and was ordained by Hebrew Union College in Los Angeles in 2006. He  trained in chaplaincy at UCSF Medical Center in 2007 specializing in mental health chaplaincy. In this video, Rabbi Kukla describes his gender and spiritual journeys and explains the six genders found in Jewish texts.

“I didn’t really expect to come out as transgender during the same year that I was ordained.”

The full talk with Rabbi Kukla is one video in our series of "Interviews with Faith Leaders." Keep the conversation going and ask your questions in the Gender Spectrum Lounge.
