Professional Development and Training
Gender Spectrum has trained thousands of schools, school districts, medical clinics, and other organizations and groups across the United States, building the capacity of tens of thousands of teachers, administrators, doctors, psychologists, counselors, and other leaders to create gender-inclusive environments for the young people they work with.
Gender Spectrum Offers Professional Development and Training for:
-
Our extensive trainings with educational institutions--schools, districts, state departments of education, professional associations, universities, school-based providers and others--have reached educators who impact the lives of more than 3 million students. We can support you to make gender-inclusion “business as usual.”
-
We work with social service professionals and agencies who support youth and families navigating gender issues in child welfare contexts, foster care settings, juvenile justice environments and more. With our help, you can account for the gender diversity of the youth you serve in the complex settings you seek to establish.
-
Our collaboration with medical and mental health providers will expand your capacity to apply deeper understandings about gender to your work with all youth and families in general, as well as to those needing services specific to a young person’s unique gender journey.
-
As issues of gender show up in a variety of legal situations, from changing identity documents to addressing custody disputes to responding to student-rights violations, we will help you understand and effectively speak to the unique gender experiences of the youth and families with whom you work.
-
After-school, coaching, youth development, and camp professionals are being asked to address gender issues as never before. Our partnership can support you to make your particular setting more gender-inclusive.
-
Faith leaders and others in faith communities can benefit from a deeper understanding of gender and the intersections between faith and gender for all members of the community. We work with all faith communities, meeting you where you are at with your beliefs and providing a framework that accounts for your faith tradition.

The Professionals’ Symposium is designed for individuals who serve transgender, non-binary, and otherwise gender-expansive youth and/or their families. Participants engage in programming and acquire resources designed to build their capacity to support families and young people around issues of gender.
Workshops are organized around a variety of disciplines – education, medicine, law, mental health/counseling, social services, and child welfare. In addition, a number of workshops focus on a range of interdisciplinary topics including how the intersection of gender and race, religion, class, and other aspects of identity impact a young person’s gender experience. Register today for this year’s Symposium at bit.ly/GSPS2023.
